the arts
The Links support of the arts can be traced to the establishment of The Arts facet in 1964 at the 14th National Assembly. The GOAL of The Arts facet is to increase and expand art activity. The OBJECTIVE of this program facet has historically been to encourage appreciation of and support of cultural enrichment.
Links are creating and supporting opportunities for educating minority youth in the arts and presenting and supporting performances by youth and accomplished professional artists in a diversity of disciplines. Our programming includes arts integration within our chapters and partnerships with likeminded organizations, sowing the seed of creativity deeper in our community.
To this end the Hampton Links propose the following Arts Program Goals for the 2017-2018 Program Year:
Encourage support of a Link Friendship Activity – Kwanzaa Marketplace at the Hampton University Museum on Dec. 1, 2017.
Sponsor attendance by members of the Young Achievers to the Hampton Players performance of the Black Nativity on Dec. 3, 2017
Submit a local entry to the Links National Poster Arts Contest by 2018.
Develop an Arts program design to encourage participation in The Young Master Writers Competition for 2018 -2019.
